A renewed chapter for one of The Hague’s most familiar neighbourhood corners.
Some places become part of daily life.
Not because they try too hard, but because they are simply there when people need them. Familiar, welcoming and easy to return to. For many in The Hague, Bitterkoud has been one of those places.
Located on the well-known corner of Oostduinlaan 119, Bitterkoud has long been a meeting point in the neighbourhood. A place where children stop for an ice cream after school, where adults grab a coffee before work, and where friends meet for an easy moment together.
Now, a new chapter is about to begin.
We are currently finalising renovations, with reopening planned for May 2026.
The updated Bitterkoud will bring a refreshed look, an improved setup and a sharper overall experience, while staying true to what made it special in the first place. The essence remains unchanged.
A relaxed neighbourhood place where families feel welcome, tourists passing through can stop and enjoy the moment, and locals know they can always come back for something simple and good. Ice cream on a sunny afternoon. Coffee before the day begins. A small pause that makes the day better.
At YOUNG Hospitality, we believe the strongest concepts are often the ones that already matter to people. Our role is not to replace that value, but to protect it and help it grow.
That is exactly what we are doing with Bitterkoud.
Familiar, refreshed and ready for the next chapter.
See you in May.
